Oolong Tea Benefits Vs Puerh Tea Benefits
Did Ancient tea drinkers really know the health benefits of tea?
Oolong Tea vs Puerh Tea
It comes down to taste for personal choice
Most of the information available on the web, about the health and weight loss benefits, of most types of weight loss products, are far from scientific. But tea on the other hand has been subject to a lot of scientific research and scrutiny. This is because tea has been something most people drink all the time, and verifying the health claims in a laboratory became important.
About 2,500 years ago, tea was first discovered in India. It then traveled to china and japan and parts of Southeast Asia, Africa and South America, where they are grown and brewed. All the different varieties of tea comes from a plant called Camellia Sinensis. This includes oolong tea, green tea, white or black tea. The only difference between the tea varieties is how they are processed.
People who have been drinking these teas for a long period of time, would have witnessed the major health and weight loss benefits that tea offers in general, without consciously realizing it. Now the oolong tea vs green tea debate focuses on which is the better type of tea for weight loss between these two varieties.
Drying and oxidizing tea
Though oolong tea benefits (also known as Wu-long or black dragon tea) and green tea are made from the same Camellia Sinensis plant, they differ in how they are processed. Compared to green tea, oolong is processed more using a process called oxidation. Green tea on the other hand is not oxidized at all. This helps the green tea retain its original anti-oxidants, which is why green tea has its green color.
Although the process of oxidation removes some amount of anti-oxidants from oolong tea, it does not completely diminish the effectiveness as a solution to weight loss. The process of oxidation however imparts a few other antioxidants into oolong tea which will not be originally present in the tea before processing.
So both oolong tea and green tea will have excellent antioxidant properties that will help weight loss and improve your overall health. Antioxidants is very beneficial for health and is present in food such as nuts, fruits, vegetable and wine. They fight many radicals in the body which are linked to cancer, Parkinson’s disease, old age, schizophrenia and Alzheimer apart from aiding weight loss.
The Taste of Tea?
Cheap tea or mid-range
Many people describe green tea as being grassy. But that entirely depends on the quality of tea you buy. Quality counts when it comes to oolong or Pu-erh tea and small differences in price can have a large difference in the taste and aroma. Some aged Puerh tea is unbelievably expensive, with some tea cakes coming from the 1930’s, but for normal tea drinkers try get a mid-range tea, rather than the cheapest you can find. To ensure that you retain the taste that you have when you first purchase the product, ensure that you follow the instructions for storage when it comes to storing your tea.
The taste of oolong tea can vary greatly. It is a bit woody and is also a little citrus. Puerh tea is strong and a bit bland in taste, therefore much less is needed in your tea cup. My favorite is oolong, as its smooth taste, (sweetened slightly with stevia) boots my system up in the mornings. This gives oolong tea benefits a much stronger taste than green tea. Oolong tea is favorite of coffee drinkers and it is easier to store in comparison to green tea.

Oolong Tea Benefits .

But one tea can be easily more effective than the other depending on the quality of the tea.
Oolong tea benefits tend to be a bit more expensive than green tea, that’s due to the recent weight loss claims in the past few years. But green tea still have its health benefits over oolong or Puerh tea but not in the weight loss category.
You should really test both varieties of tea yourself and make a decision on which is best for you. At the end of the day, if weight loss is what you’re looking for, then Pu-erh and oolong tea benefits is for you. Green tea contains many antioxidants and is good for overall health, but because it’s not a fermented tea and doesn’t have the good bacteria effective for weight loss then you should use oolong or Pu-erh.
